Ships of ASR-UFP-YASARUGI

The YASARUGI-class is a FEARLESS-class based hull, using many of the same hull components and systems as the warship uses. This class is more for scientific research and exploration rather than the FEARLESS-class having the major combat function.

As with the FEARLESS, the YASARUGI boasts an improved warp drive and a second generation gravity-planning sub-light drive system. While this class is well armed, she is not as well armored and her shields are more along the lines of an explorer.

The YASARUGI was requested as an explorer sister class to the FEARLESS-class Armored Heavy Cruiser (CA+) which was designed to be more of a warship. The YASARUGI-class is meant to augment the KIROV (ASR's SOVEREIGN-class...mark IV) and will probably eventually replace this 65 year old hull design that has reached the limits of it's design expansion.
