Ships of ASR- UFP- COVENTRY

The COVENTRY-class design was originally designed in 2005 and has several hulls in operation within the ASR Star Trek universe. Presently, the ship-of-the-class, USS COVENTRY NCC-81420 has been the only active RP unit and is presently assigned to Starbase SAIKAI as a active Non-player Vessel.

The COVENTRY was designed with a multi-mission mind set. Well, armed, well armored, and somewhat overpowered, this destroyer was meant to not only fill the niches of picket destroyer, escort, and escort screen, but also meant to fill the role of a stand alone explorer/ship-of-the-line...a role that was meant to be filled by the larger light and heavy cruisers. At 380m, COVENTRY is also slightly larger than most destoryer classes and was created to replace ASR FRIEDMAN-class destroyer. The COVENTRY-class destoryer is built at the Utopia Plania Ship Yards at the rate of four a standard year.

The vessel is one of my last designs to sport a pair of standard, if not slightly larger than average, impulse engines. She is also one of my first designs to undergo conversion to a 3D model. I had always found the AKRIA-class to be a beatifully executed design and the COVENTRY takes some cues from that class
